Seiver Utsey is a senior attackman at Male High School in Louisville,KY and plays club for the Howlin' Hounds. Last season as a junior Utsey had 64 goals and 20 assist for a total of 84 points. That put Utsey in the spot for 5th most points in the state, according to Max Preps.

In early September Utsey announced his commitment to play lacrosse at Transylvania University, a DIII school in Lexington, KY.

Utsey started playing lacrosse when he was nine years old. Utsey says he "instantly fell in love." when he first started playing the game. Utsey has also played sports such as football, basketball, and soccer which he says has helped contribute to his play on the lacrosse field in various different ways.

As far as his on the field play Utsey says he doesn't try to model his game after any one player, but whenever he sees a move that he likes he practices. Utsey says he feels that he has his own style of play. Utsey also said that he idolizes former MLL and NLL players Matt Striebel and Mitch Belisle who coached Utsey when he played for Triology ICE.

"They are a couple of the best coaches I've ever had. I guess you could say I model them as men rather than players in a sense." Utsey Said.

Being in Louisville there was a lot less lacrosse back then than there is now. Utsey says that he learned a lot about the sport through mediums such as YouTube. The game of lacrosse has grown immensely since that time and there are now more players in Louisville than ever. The growth isn't stopping anytime soon either. Utsey says that he feels there needs to be more opportunity and education on lacrosse in Louisville and in Kentucky as a whole to help the game grow.

"When I was a freshman, our varsity team had fourteen players. Now, as a senior, we are having around forty kids show up to fall practices. These are not even mandatory. It's amazing to watch and be apart of the growth." Utsey exclaimed.

At Male, Utsey and his teammates recently went through a coaching change this summer. Former head coach Joseph Palazzo stepped down after the 2018 season. Former Rutgers player and current Atlanta Blaze midfielder Chad Toliver has been hired as the new head coach of the Bulldogs. Toliver has started the team this fall.

When asked about his thoughts on Coach Toliver Utsey said, "Coach is the man! Point blank. I don't want to bash my old coach, but I wish I had Chad as my coach all four years."

Coming into his senior season at Male Utsey says he hopes to better himself as well as his teammates around him. He says that he has been preparing for this season by getting in the gym and changing his diet. Utsey says his main goal for this season is just to have a good time. Utsey also said he hopes he can be named an All-American and maybe even Mr. Lacrosse in Kentucky.

As a senior, 2019 will be Utsey's last season of high school lacrosse. Back in September Utsey made the announcement that he had committed to play lacrosse at DIII Transylvania in Lexington,KY. Utsey said that he chose Transylvania because of the coaching staff, environment, education, and the fact that he would still love the school if he got hurt and couldn't play lacrosse anymore.

In the fall of 2019 Utsey will be walking into a program at Transylvania that has been able to find a lot of success as of recent. The Pioneers have mad it to back-to-back NCAA tournaments and look to three peat this year as they enter a new conference as the Heartland Lacrosse Conference has finally added lacrosse. Utsey looks to be the next great Kentucky bred player that has found success at Transylvania.
