The Falcons have hired lacrosse legend John Grant Jr. as an assistant coach after former assistant  Nick Ossello parted ways with the program earlier this month. Grant Jr.'s starting date as an assistant with the Falcons will be November 26th.

Grant Jr. comes to Air Force after a historic pro career of nearly 20 years in both box and field. He is renown as one of the greatest players of all-time. During his time as a player Grant Jr. won two MLL MVP awards (2007,2008) and two NLL MVP awards (2007,2012) he is one of only three players to win both MLL and NLL MVP along with Casey Powell and Gary Gait, and the only one to do so in the same year.

John Grant Jr. has won six MLL championships and one NLL championship during his time as a pro player. He has also helped Peterborough capture five Mann Cup's and was named Mann Cup MVP twice. Internationally Grant Jr. won three FIL World Indoor Lacrosse Championship's with Canada (2003,2007,2011) and one FIL World Championship with Canada as well (2010).

In college John Grant Jr. was a standout attackman for two years at SUNY Morrisville (JuCo) and then at Delaware for two seasons. Grant Jr. helped take Delaware to the NCAA quarterfinals in 1999 where they fell to Virginia. Grant Jr. would go on to win the Lt. Raymond Enners Award (NCAA's most outstanding player) and the Jack Turnbull Award (NCAA's best attackman) in 1999, as well as being Delaware's first USILA All-American selection. Grant Jr. has been inducted into the NJCAA Hall fo Fame. His jersey was just retired by the Colorado Mammoth last season as well.

As a coach Grant Jr. got his start as a graduate assistant at Delaware in 2000. Grant Jr. then co-founded Pro Skills Lacrosse in 2003 and was the offensive coordinator for the Rochester Knighthawks in 2009. Grant Jr. started Evolve Elite Lacrosse in 2010, was an assistant for Canada in the 2014 World Lacrosse Championships, and was the head coach at Valor Christian High School in Colorado from 2015-2018. He has also been an assistant for the Denver Outlaws in the MLL.

If there ever was a hire that pretty much everyone in the lacrosse world would say is a 100% home run this is it! Grant Jr. is one of the greatest lacrosse minds of all time and his name alone carries heavy in recruiting.
