Rochester Knighthawks Owner and General Mangaer Curt Styres has been named the GM for the Iroquois Nationals in the 2019 World Indoor Lacrosse Championships (WILC). The event will take place next September in Langley, BC.

The 2018 General Manager of the year as solitafied himself as one of the top executives in the sport over the year. The Mohawks Native from Six Nations, ON has a huge lacrosse background at various different levels.

In 2018 Styres was able to revamp the Knighthawks and turn them back into a title contender as the lost in the NLL Finals in three games to Saskatchewan. It was the first playoff run for the Knighthawks since 2015. Styres has been the owner of the Knighthawks since June 2008 and GM since for eight seasons.

Being Mohawk and from Six Nations, Styres has a huge connection to the Iroquois Nationals. There are former Six Nations Arrows and Iroquois Nationals front office and coaching staff members working in the Knighthawks organization.

Styres is maybe the best guy for this job as general manager for the Iroquois Nationals as he has managed and coached many teams over his career. He first started his career as a scout for the Six Nations Arrows in 1998. He also helped open Iroquois Lacrosse Arena (ILA), a 3,000 seat arena for the Jr. A lacrosse team that serves the community through many other initiatives. His business Arrows Express Sports still manages the arena.

In all the teams that Styres has been involved with he has brought the same management and success. From a Bantam Provincial A Championship, U-19 World Junior Lacrosse Championships Gold-medal team Styres has been able to have a ton of success.

Styres has also made two trips to the Native American Indigenous Games as the head coach with Team Ontario U-16 in 2014 and U-19 in 2017 where they captured gold.

As the 2019 WILC is coming up next September Styres looks to use a similar forumla to put together a team that will compete for a gold medal. The Iroquois have won silver at all four WILC events.
