Atherton to Join the KSLL in 2019

Atherton High School

After their very first season of play in 2018 the Atherton Rebels are set to join the Kentucky Scholastic Lacrosse League (KSLL) for the upcoming 2019 season. The Rebels played as an independent last season where they just played a few games.

In 2018 the Atherton Rebels went 1-2 as they got their very first win in program history over Anderson County by a score of 10-7 on April, 28th. The Rebels lost to Woodford County 14-0 in their first game of the season and lost 14-4 to Collins in their last game of season. They did have a few games cancelled earlier in the season due to weather, thus why they only played three games.

Atherton will be in a tough district in the KSLL as they land in District 1 along with Male, Collegiate, an St. Xavier. District play starts around March for most all teams in the KSLL. Atherton's full schedule should be released over the next couple of months as the season draws closer.

Atherton will be the eleventh team in the KSLL as every team in Louisville and Oldham County is now a member of the KSLL. It is great to see Atherton find a home in the KSLL as it will help them play more competition and possibly get some more players to come to Atherton as well. The girls program at Atherton is pretty established and has been around since 2012.
