Pierce Bassett Files for Player Movement

MLL Player Movement started this week and while we saw a ton of guys re-sign with their current teams there has only been one player to file for player movement so far.

Player Movement is essentially the MLL's version of free agency but it's no where near what free agency is in other pro sports and in the NLL. The way player movement works is that a player who has played at least five seasons in the league and has an expiring contract can file for player movement and talk with other teams. If that player does sign with another team then their former team may be compensated in the form of draft a draft pick.

Yes, people who follow the MLL know it sounds stupid but that's how it works at the moment. Fingers crossed that changes are coming soon.

Charlotte Hounds backup goalie Pierce Bassett is the only player that has filed for Player movement thus far. Bassett was drafted by Charlotte in the 2014 supplemental draft and has been with the franchise his entire career. Bassett has had an up and down career as each season seems to throw something different at him in terms of on the field play and playing time as well. In 2018 Bassett saw action in six games as he had 49 saves with a .480 save percentage.

As I am not sure of who is eligible for player movement we should see some more players opt-in over the course of the next few weeks. We should also see some more signings too as the offseason action is just getting started in the MLL.
