Peterborough Completes the Sweep, Captures Second Straight Mann Cup

The Peterborough Lakers defeated the Maple Ridge Burrards 11-8 in game four of the Mann Cup to capture their second straight Mann Cup. Peterborough is the first team to complete a sweep in the Mann Cup since 2008 when the Brampton Excelsiors did it. 

It was a very close and tightly contested game as both sides played a fantastic game. Entering the second period Peterborough would hold a two point 5-3 lead over Maple Ridge. In the scoring would be pretty low as Maple Ridge was able to get things into gear and cut it to a one goal 7-6 Peterborough lead heading into the third. Peterborough would be able to pull away with four goals in the third period to help secure the 11-8 victory. 

Maple Ridge was led by Dan Taylor and Mike Mallory. Taylor had 5 points (2G,3A) while Mallory put up 4 points (1G,3A). Curtis Dickson and Ben McIntosh also contributed with 3 points a piece. In goal for Maple Ridge Frank Scigliano had 42 saves off of 52 shots.

Kyle Buchanan and Shawn Evans would be the leaders for Peterborough. Buchanan had 9 points (1G,8A) while Evans put up 5 points (1G,4A). Adam Jones, Holden Cattoni, and Cory Vitarelli also contributed heavily for Peterborough. Matt Vinc made 29 saves off of 47 shots in the win for Peterborough.
