Abbott Re-Signs with Chesapeake, Boston Signs Williams & Sands, and More

The Chesapeake Bayhawks and Boston Cannons have each re-signed some key players. The Bayhawks signed Matt Abbott while the Cannons signed Will Sands and Zed Williams. Denver also announced that they had signed Eric Gobrecht. 

Veteran midfielder Matt Abbott has been a key figure for the Chesapeake Bayhawks since they drafted him back in 2009. Abbott has been dominate on the field and it seems his play seems to get better and better each year. In 2018 he helped lead the Bayhawks to the MLL semifinals where they would ultimately fall to the eventual champions Denver Outlaws. In 2018 Abbott 20 points as he recorded 13 goals and 7 assist. 

Boston has re-signed attackman Will Sands after a successful rookie year with the Cannons in 2018. Sands, who was drafted 19th overall out of Bucknell, was able to find a place in that Boston offense the moment he stepped on the field. In 2018 Sands put up 17 points with 7 goals and 10 assist. His rookie season ended with injury after just five games.

Zed Williams has re-signed played his first season with Boston in 2018 after playing with the Rattlers in Rochester during his rookie season. Last season with the Cannons Williams was a fan favorite as he put on a show every time he was on the field. In 2018 he had 30 points with 18 goals and 12 assist.

The Denver Outlaws have announced the signing of defensemen Eric Gobrecht to a one-year deal. The 2015 Ithaca grad played his first year in the MLL last season as he racked up 2 points with 1 goal and 1 assist while having 29 ground balls. Gobrecht appeared in 14 games for the Outlaws in 2018.
