On Monday we would see multiple assistant coaching hires as Hofstra and Rutgers both hired new defensive coordinators. Hofstra would hire former Rutgers defensive coordinator John Gorman as the new defensive coordinator for the Pride. Rutgers would hire the former Towson defensive coordinator Dan Cocchi to lead the Scarlet Knights defense in 2019.

Gorman is returning to his alma mater, Hofstra, after a two year stint as the defensive coordinator at Rutgers. Prior to his stint at Rutgers Gorman was an assistant at Hofstra from 2012 to 2016. He got his start in coaching at the high school level as an assistant at South Side High School on Long Island.

During his playing days he played at Hofstra from 2005 through 2007 as a defensive midfielder. He also played a Nassau Community City for two years before coming to Hofstra.

Dan Cocchi comes to Rutgers after spending seven years at Towson as the defensive coordinator, a position he will take over at Rutgers. Cocchi played at Towson as he graduated in 2003. Cocchie also played professionally in the MLL and NLL.

In addition Towson also lost volunteer assistant Jake Padilla who will take over as the head coach at DII Colorado Mesa.
