The World Junior Lacrosse Championship (WJLC) got underway on Wednesday night  in Saskatoon Canada took on the Iroquois. Canada would use a big offensive performance to get the 26-9 win.

The game would start off pretty tight as the goalie play on both sides was stellar early on. Offensively both teams would go back and fourth for the majority of the first quarter. Canada would start off the scoring with Thomas Vaesen and the Iroquois would answer with Aaron Greyeyes. Canada would get two goals from Kyle Dawson and a goal from Matthew Wright to finish the first. The Iroquois would get another goal from Aaron Greyeyes to give him two in the first. That would give Canada a 5-2 lead at the end of the first.

In the second the Iroquois would start off with a two goal rub from Aaron Greyeyes and David Anderson to cut the lead to 5-4 Canada. Iroquois would stay hot for long as Canada would answer with a big four goal run which seemed to be the turning point in this game. During that run Canada would get goals Brad Lyons, Jonathan Peshko, Jordan Ackie, and Kyle Dawson. The Iroquois would get a goal from Tyler Brown before Canada would get three straight to end the second. Kyle Dziwenka, Matthew Wright, and Wyatt Haux would be the three scorers for Canada to close out the second with a 12-5 lead.

The Iroquois were able to hang in there with Canada in that first half but the second half is really where Canada pulled away and secured the huge win to open the 2018 World Junior Lacrosse Championship.

Iroquois would open the third with a Tyler Brown goal and Canada would quickly answer with one coming from Colin Berglof. Canada and Iroquois would go back and fourth a bit in the middle of the quarter as the Iroquois would get goals from Kallen Currie and Marshall Powless. Canada would get two back to back goals in between from Mitch Linklater and Matthew Wright. The Canadians wud end the third with a four goal run to put them up 19-8 heading into the fourth. During that last run from Canada they would see goals from Jonathan Peshko, Colin Berglof, Brad Lyons, and Thomas Vaesen.

Canada's offense would effectively put away the Iroquois in the fourth, if they hadn't already. Canada would start off the fourth with a four goal run. Brad Lyons, Kyle Dziwenka, Thomas Vaesen, and Mitch Linklater would score during that run to start the fourth. As the Iroquois seemed to have no energy going their way Tyler Brown would score off a pass from Marshall Powless to get a sliver of energy back on their side. Canada would close out the game with three straight goals from Tanner Buck, Brendan Szabo, and Thomas Vaesen.

Canada would get the 16-9 victory over the Iroquois to open the 2018 WJLC tournament in dominating fashion. The next game up will be the Iroquois vs USA Thursday night at 7:30 CST/ 9:30 ET.
