Brown University's athletic director Jack Hayes has been named the Division I Men's Lacrosse Committee Chair for the 2018-19 season. This will be Hayes' third stint as a member of the committee in some capacity. Hayes was on the committee from 2006-08 and 2010-12.

After the NCAA Division I Competition Oversight Committee submits their approval Hayes will begin his duties as chair on September 1st, 2018. Haye's will remain chair from September 1st, 2018 to August of 2019 where they will rotate and Hayes will be rotated off of the committee. Hayes is the successor to Richmond Athletic Director John Hardt who was the chair of the committee during the 2017-18 season.

Personally, I really love seeing Hayes in the chair as he has done many great things in the sport on the administrative side. I have repeatedly said that Hayes was the best athletic director in the Ivy League conference. What Brown has been able to achieve athletically is phenomenal considering that they are in the most restrictive conference in the country. Much of that success can be traced back to Hayes and the role he plays at Athletic director at Brown.

Hayes got his beginnings in the administrative side of sports at Fairfield and would have stops at St. John's and UConn. Hayes first job as Athletic Director was at Hofstra in 2004. He remained at Hofstra before coming to Brown in April of 2012.

Hayes went to college at his hometown school Providence where he was a three year started on the lacrosse team. He graduated from Providence in 1989 and would go onto UConn where he earned his masters degree.

Hayes said, “It is an honor to serve in a leadership role on the NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse Committee. I look forward to working with the other committee members and the NCAA staff to continue the efforts of promoting the sport of lacrosse.”

Hayes appeared on a Podcast from Lacrosse All Stars with Andy Towers and Ryan Danehy back in 2016 when Brown was on their run to the finals four. You can listen to that below.
