Austin Staats Declares for the NLL Draft

The question that has been looming in the balance all summer has finally been answered. Austin Staats will forgo his final two years of NCAA eligibility and enter the 2018 NLL draft.

The Onodaga Community College star will enter the 2018 draft instead of heading to a four-year school like his older brother Randy did. Staats has been a star on all levels as he has dominated in the box game and the field game. Playing for Onodaga Community College, Six Nations Chiefs, Six Nations Arrows, and the Iroquois Nationals over the past few years Staats had built up a big following.

Staats will most likely be the number one overall draft pick in the NLL draft which takes place on September 25th. He has been described by many as a "generational" talent. With him going number one I can see multiple teams trying to trade up to get Staats. He is the kind of player that you can build a franchise around and he is ready right now.

At the moment San Diego has the number one pick, but it is projected that Buffalo will most likely be the one that trades up to get that first pick. Staats, an Ontario native, has expressed his desire to play in Buffalo, which would be close to home.
