Albany, Colgate, and High Point Add Assistants

Only one of these hires has not yet been confirmed by the respective school. High Point and Colgate have confirmed theses coaching hires.

It was reported by Chris Jastrembski last week that Albany would hire John Maloney as their new defensive coordinator to replace Liam Gleason who took the head coaching job at Siena earlier in the off season. 

Maloney comes to Albany after coaching at St. John Fischer College last season and at Skidmore College in 2017. Maloney as also helped coach with 3d Lacrosse on the club scene. Maloney was a standout midfielder at Albany where he graduated in 2016. He was also drafted 22nd overall in the MLL draft by the Chesapeake Bayhawks. 

It has been reported by many last week, including Johns Hopkins head coach Dave Pietramala, that former Blue Jay star John Crawley will be Colgate's offensive coordinator on Pat Myers inaugural staff in Hamilton, NY. Colgate later confirmed this hire on Wednesday. 

Crawley comes to Colgate after a stint at Notre Dame as a volunteer assistant. Crawley played at Johns Hopkins where he graduated in 2017 after a decorated career. Crawley currently plays in the MLL for the Charlotte Hounds who drafted him 33rd overall in the 2017 MLL draft. 

Colgate has also hired Chris Cooper as their new defensive coordinator. Cooper comes to Colgate after a two-year stint as the offensive coordinator at Binghamton. At Binghamton he helped the Bearcats reach new heights under head coach Kevin Mckeown. Cooper’s success at Binghamton should carry over to Colgate as well.

High point has announced the hiring of Justin Tuma as an assistant coach. Tuma comes to High Points from Ohio State where he as a volunteer assistant and worked with the faceoff unit and goalies. Prior to his time at Ohio State Tuma was at Princeton in a similar role as he worked with the faceoff unit and defense.

He started his coaching career at Randolph-Macon in 2013 after playing in college at Roanoke. Tuma also played at Durham University in England while he obtained his master's degree after graduating from Roanoke.
