Second Half Offense Leads Iroquois Past Australia

This game would start out pretty tight as there was a ton of offense both ways. The Iroquois would eventually break away to secure the 16-9 win over Australia, their second of the tournament.

Australia would get the game going offensively as Nigel Morton, Alex Brown, and Christopher Plumb would score three straight. With Australia leading 3-0 early in the first the Iroquois would would answer with four of their own. Randy Staats and Ty Thompson would each have two goals a piece on that run. Australia would finish out the first half with a Mitchell Kennedy goal to make even at 4-4 heading into the second quarter.

The second quarter would be more back and fourth then the first quarter was. Each team really did trade turns scoring goals. Australia's Lachlan Walker would start the scoring out and then the Iroquois Austin Staats. That would make it 5-5. It would be like that the rest of the quarter as the Iroquois and Australia would go back and fourth scoring goal after goal. Australia would see Mitchell Kennedy and Nigel Morton score before the half. Randy Staats would score his second and third for the Iroquois before the half. With all that back and fourth scoring it would be tied 7-7 at the half.

The second half is where the Iroquois would really pull away and play like we all know they can. It would be an offensive clinic in second half by the Iroquois. With the Iroquois dominating possession Australia just didn't have enough touches. Ultimately it would get a little chippy down the stretch.

In the third it would start with Australia getting a goal from Nigel Morton to give them an 8-7 lead. That would the last goal of the third for Australia as the Iroquois would go on a immense run. The Iroquois would score five straight goals in the third to make it a 12-8 lead heading into the fourth. Lyle Thompson would score three times during that run. Mike Lazore and Ty Thompson would score once. It really was an onslaught by the Iroquois as Australia really looked like the folded a bit. It would get a little chippy to end the third as there was some questionable "extra" checks thrown at Ty Thompson as the clock expired.

After the whole scuffle would take what seemed like 20 minutes to get figured out the game would get going again as we started the fourth quarter. The fourth would be much of the same as Kyle Jackson and Ty Thompson. Australia would find the back of the net one last time as Luke Keesing would get the 9th goal of the day for the Aussie's. Miles and Ty Thompson would close out the game scoring wise as the Iroquois would walk away with a 16-9 victory.
