MLL Weekend Preview: Week 12; Shorthanded Stretch Begins

The MLL season is flying bye as we have already reached week 12. This week will be one of those weeks where pretty much every team will be shorthanded due to the FIL World Championships. It should be great to see some of these other guys get more minutes and showcase what they can do. On the flip side, there will be a few teams that could potentially fall off due to missing too many guys.

Denver Outlaws (6-4) vs Boston Cannons (3-7)

Denver won 25-11

The annual 4th of July game that the Outlaws put on each year continues. This year the Cannons will come to town for this great game that has drawn 25,000 people in the past.

The Outlaws have been playing very well with rookie Chris Cloutier catching fire almost every game. Veteran guys like Eric Law have also been very crucial for this Outlaws team as well. They will lose some guys due to the World Championships but I'm not sure if those guys will play in this game or not. Either way the Outlaws will look to put together another dominating performance.

The Cannons look to be out of the playoff conversation as they haven't been good at all. They have been very unconsistent but have shown bring spots. If they have all their guys and can play as a cohesive team like in past games they can give Denver some competition. If they don't have all their guys I really can't see them doing much. They need all guys like Perkovic, Seibald, Stanwick, and more playing their best lacrosse to get a win.

Saturday, July 7th

Dallas Rattler (8-2) VS Charlotte Hounds (6-5)

The Rattlers have been the hottest team in the league for quite some time now. Their offense has been very efficient as they can put up a ton of goals. They will be missing a few pieced but they can most certainly can still get pretty good production. Their biggest loss will be in cage as John Galloway will be with Team USA.

The Hounds have had a great offense and defense over the course of this season. The one thing that Charlotte hasn't been able to do in a few games is put all the pieces together. They are most certainly capable of doing that but they will be missing a few guys.

This should be a great game as we have two of the leagues best facing off against each other. These two teams don't lose as much talent to the World Championships as other teams and that is great news for both squads. Charlotte need this win a lot more that Dallas. Charlotte hasn't been able to put it together recently like they did early in the season. This should be a good offensive battle here on Saturday.

Florida Launch (4-6) vs Ohio Machine (2-8)

These are two teams that really need a win. Ohio is pretty much out of the playoff race and Florida is sitting near the bottom as well. The Launch have started to play a little bit better on offense in weeks prior. Even since losing Salcido in that trade with Atlanta it seems they haven't played as good on offense. That all changed a few weeks ago and now they are playing much better. The one question mark is on defense. can they hold the Machine and that offensive attack.

Ohio is a team that will be missing some of their star power. This is the worst time for the Machine as they have guys missing because of the World Games and they need those players more than ever. I really can't see the Machine pulling it together again, especially not now.

Chesapeake Bayhawks (7-2) vs New York Lizards (5-5)

The Bayhawks are coming off a great performance on Monday as their offense was clicking on all cylinders. The Bayhawks have a ton of weapons all over the field that should give them a big lift this weekend. This may be one team that I'm not worried about during this stretch of World Championships. They Bathawks have role players at every position that can step up and make big plays. They shouldn't even lose any confidence this week at all.

New York loses a lot of talent due to the World Championships. Honestly, I don't see the Lizards making it thought these next two weeks. They are one game out of the top 4 who make the playoffs. It's a tough situation with the Lizards and I think they can have success without their stars, but it will be very difficult.
