MLL Week 11 Recap; Atlanta Takes Over Charleston, Lizards Huge Comeback

It was a very exciting week in the MLL as we saw great games on Saturday and Monday. The one theme here was offense as we saw a lot of it. Also, we saw some second half comebacks that made these games even more exciting.

New York Lizards 15 vs Ohio Machine 14

This was no easy task for New York as they had to fight and claw to get this win. The Lizards were down 8-7 going into halftime. Joe Walters and Will Manny had big days as the each put up four goals. Paul Rabil also had three goals and three assist.  Will Manny would score the game winning game to get the Lizards the 15-14 victory. In cage Drew Adams would have 15 saves off of 29 shots on goal.

The Machine got off to a hot start as Justin Guterding and Mark Matthews would do most of the lifting on the offensive end. Guterding had four goals and Matthews would have three. That would just not be enough as Ohio came up short in the end. Kyle Bernhlor would have a good day in cage as he had 16 saves.

Atlanta Blaze 16 vs Charlotte Hounds 10

The first game ever held in South Carolina was won by the Atlanta Blaze. They used a huge offensive performance to bury the Hounds early and they never looked back. Even the downpour of rain couldn't slow them down.

The Blaze would see bug offensive contributions from Kevin Rice, Christian Cuccinello, and Connor Kelly. Rice put up four goals, Cuccinello and Kelly each had three. Joe Nardella also put on a great show at the faceoff dot winning 22-29 draws. That really helped as Nardella just kept feeding that Blaze offense.

Trailing 9-4 at the half Charlotte started to mount a little bit of a comeback in the second half. Mike Chanechuck, Dylan Maltz, and John Haus would carry most of the weight as Ryan Brown and Matt Rambo didn't play. Chanechuck would put up three goals as Maltz and Haus had two each. Connor Fields would start out good but he went down early and about gave the lacrosse world a heart attack. The Hounds just couldn't get it done and took the 16-10 loss in South Carolina.

Chesapeake Bayhawks 15 vs Boston Cannons 8

The Bayhawks put on an offensive clinic as they just kept scoring goal after goal. Colin Heaccock would lead the charge as he had three goals, including a two pointer. Matt Danowski and Ian MacKay would be two other guys that contributed well for the Bayhawks. Danowski would have three goals and four assist as MacKay had two goals. In cage Nico Amato had himself a day racking up 13 saves off of 21 shots. It was a great performance all around for the Bayhawks as they secured their sixth straight win.

Boston couldn't get anything going at all. They were missing midfielders Sergio Perkovic and Max Seibald due to a flag football tournament with Michael Vick. That made me really upset to hear that they would do that during the MLL season. The Cannons really missed them on the field as their offensive production lacked. Shack Stanwick and Trevor Baptiste would have pretty good days as they each had two goals. Baptiste would go 13-24 at the faceoff dot but also played some midfield as well. The Cannons just couldn't pull it together, again.
