Iroquois Defeat Scotland to Finish Pool Play

The Iroquois would be able to hold off Scotland and break away in the second half after a tight first half to secure the 14-7 win. With this win the Iroquois finish third in the Blue Pool and advances to the quarterfinals of the championship bracket.

Scotland took advantage of the Iroquois defense early as they would start the game off with two early goals from Daniel McQuade and Sean Darroch. Miles Thompson would answer to cut the lead to 2-1 but Scotland would counter with a Luke Laszkiewicz. The Iroquois would get two goals from Ty Thompson and Randy Staats that would tie the game at 3 all heading into the second quarter.

In the second we would see Austin Staats and Randy Staats start of the scoring as they pushed the Iroquois out to a 5-3 lead. Scotland and Iroquois would trade goals for a few possessions before the Iroquois took over at the end of the quarter. Scotland would see goals from Colin Uyeki and Daniel McQuade, his second. For the Iroquois Randy Staats would get his third and Miles Thompson would have two, his second and third of the game. That offensive streak to end the second would give the Iroquois an 8-5 halftime lead over Scotland.

The Iroquois would continue their impressive display as they would be able to get out to a 10-6 lead. The Iroquois would be able to dominate possessions again but Scotland would start to mount a bit of a comeback. For the Iroquois Miles Thompson would get fourth and Austin Staats would get his second of the game. Scotland would be able to secure a few good possessions and did capitalize on one as Cole Paciejewski would get his first goal of the game. That would make it a 10-6 Iroquois lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Iroquois would close out the game in the fourth as they would see four goals go their way. Lyle Thompson , Miles Thompson, Ron John, and Ty Thompson would be the four scorers for Iroquois in the fourth. Scotland would also see a goal from Luke Laszkiewicz. That final quarter of play would secure the 14-7 victory for the Iroquois.
