Centre Announces Zimmerman as Head Coach

DIII Centre College in Danville, KY has announced that Denison assistant coach Grant Zimmerman will be the new head coach at Centre. The hiring of Zimmerman comes after former head coach Dan Sharbaugh left Centre to be the first head coach at Illinois Tech.

Zimmerman spent the last three seasons at Denison as the defensive coordinator and goalies coach. During his time at Denison the Big red reached the NCAA tournament three times and went to the final four in 2017. Denison was also a mainstay in the top 25 during his time there as well.

Prior to his time at Denison Zimmerman spent time at the high school level as a coach for the Gilman School in Baltimore as well as three seasons coaching at Susquehannock High school in Glen Rock, PA. Zimmerman staring his college coaching career at John Carroll where he was the defensive coordinator. 

Zimmerman was a four year starting goalie for the North Carolina Tar Heels. He played for UNC from 2006-09. As a Junior for the Tar Heels, Zimmerman was named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List.

Zimmerman Said, "I am excited and honored to serve as the head men's lacrosse coach at Centre College," Zimmerman said. "I would like to thank Director of Athletics Brad Fields along with the entire search committee for giving me this incredible opportunity to lead this program. I owe a great deal of gratitude to coach Mike Caravana for his guidance the past three years at Denison and to the continued support of my wife. Centre lacrosse will be a program built on family, discipline, hard work, and accountability. My goal is to create an elite environment in our pursuit to be the best version of ourselves. We will grow everyday on the field, in the classroom, and within the community."
