Vancouver Announces New Staff Changes

The news that Canucks Sports had purchased the Vancouver Stealth came out on Tuesday. They also announced changes that would be taking place. Those changes include a new team name, logo, and moving to Rogers Arena. 

The Canucks Ownership group has only been the owner of the Vancouver NLL franchise for a few days and we already have some announcements that includes coaching staff and front office changes. 

On Thursday the Canucks Ownership group announced the hiring of Dan Richardson as the new general manager and Chris Gill as head coach. 

"We are very pleased to add two local and well-respected figures in the lacrosse community to help shape our new franchise. It was important for us to find hometown leaders who share our values and who could build this team for both next year and many seasons to come.” Said Jeff Stipec, COO, Canucks Sports & Entertainment.

Dan Richardson has spent the past 15 years as the president and general manager of the Senior New Westminster Salmon Bellies.The Salmon Bellies reached the WLA finals four time under Richardson (2006,2007,2011,2015). The Salmon Bellies have also reached the Mann cup four times during Richardson’s tenure (2008,2009,2010,2017). Richardson won the WLA executive of the year award in 2005, 2007, and 2010. He also won the BC Lacrosse Association Presidents Award for outstanding service in 2009. 

Chris Gill played in the NLL and WLA as he was apart of multiple Championship teams. Gill was inducted into the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame after his playing career, becoming a fourth generation inductee. The past four seasons Gill has been with the Colorado Mammoth as an assistant coach. He was also the head coach of the Maple Ridge Burrards.
