The Colorado Mammoth announced Tuesday, June 26th that they had re-signed defenseman Joey Cupido to a five year deal, which is pretty long in terms of professional lacrosse deals. That just shows how special of a player he is to this Mammoth organization.

Joe Cupido was drafted in the fifth round, 38th overall, by the Mammoth in the 2011 NLL draft. Cupido has been with the Mammoth for all seven years of his NLL career. Cupido will enter his eight year in the NLL and with the Mammoth in 2019.

Cupido had a great 2018 season as he put up 27 points and had 111 loose balls. He was second among defenseman in points as well as being second in the league in short handed goals with 5. He also wore that "A" on his jersey for the first time in his career. He was awarded the "Inspirational player of the year" award from the mammoth as well as the fan choice award.

Mammoth General Manager Dan Carey said, “Joey is important to the future success of this organization. He is devoted to the team and has continued to develop as a leader and an elite player within this league. Joey’s willingness to sign a five-year contract shows his commitment to the Mammoth and we’re happy to have him back.”
