Assistant Coaching Movements and Notable Transfers

Over the past week there has been a lot of news surrounding some big head coaching movements at Bellarmine and Colgate and a big transfer. We just wanted to fill you in on some other notable transfers and assistant coaching movements that you may not have heard that much about.

Assistant Coaching Movements

Lehigh has announced that Tom Compitello will be returning as an assistant coach where he will be the offensive coordinator for the Mountain Hawks. Compitello started his coaching career as a volunteer assistant for Lehigh in 2012 and 2013 after graduating from Stony Brook. He also had made coaching stops at Bryant and Sacred Heart. He returns to Lehigh after a stint with Yale where he won a national championship last season.

Joe Martin has been hired as the head coach at DIII Skidmore after being an assistant coach for North Carolina since 2013. Most recently he was the defensive coordinator for the Tar Heels, a position he took over in 2016 after Chris Feifs left Carolina to become the head coach at Vermont.

It appears that Stony Brook associate head coach Craig Gibson is out per a Marisa Ingemi report. That report has yet to be verified by Stony Brook as there are multiple reports saying Gibson is still on staff while some say Gibson is out.

Former Brown assistant Matt Callahan has been reportedly hired to coach at a high school in the Boston,MA area. It was reported last week that Callahan and Chris Schoenhut had both left Brown as assistant caches.

Player Transfers

By now I am pretty sure that everyone has heard the news of TD Ierlan transferring to Yale but there are a few other notable transfers that you all should know about as well.

Hartford Midfielder Alex Smith has left the program after his freshman season and will be heading to Maryland for his sophomore season. Smith tallied 7 goals and 5 assist in his freshman season with the Hawks. The Maryland native should be able to see some significant time on the field for the Terps next season as they lose midfielders Connor Kelly, Tim Rotanz, and Adam DiMillo to graduation.

Robert Morris has picked up a pretty good transfer at the faceoff dot as Michael Autry has transferred from Belarmine after his freshman season. Autry should be a good addition for the Colonials as he went 53% at the faceoff dot as well as gobbling up 31 ground balls last season. Autry is the second notable Knight to transfer from the program following goalie Johnny Hulsman who will be joining Marquette next season.

2nd team ALL-MAAC and MAAC All-Freshman midfielder Brennan Kamish will be transferring from Detroit Mercy to Rutgers. Kamish had a great freshman campaign with the Titans as he put up nineteen goals. This is a great pickup for Rutgers as they do lose Christian Mazzone at midfield due to graduation. Kamish has the potential to start day one for the Scarlet Knights.
