MLL Weekend Preview: Week 5

We have more action in the MLL this week as we now enter the fifth week of the 2018 season. This is usually the week where we see an influx of talent from the NLL. Now that there are only two teams left in the NLL many players are making the transition to the MLL. One notable player that won't be playing this week after his team lost last week in the NLL Eastern Divisional Finals is Lyle Thompson. He has stated that he is letting an old injury heal before he switches to the outdoor season. Which may not make fans happy but is smart because he will also be playing for the Iroquois Nationals this summer in Israel as well as the Bayhawks in the MLL.

Last week we saw some great lacrosse and we should see much of the same this week too. We saw many great offensive and defensive performances from tams across the league last week as well as seeing the Boston Cannons get their first win on the season. It should be another great week in the MLL!

Saturday, May 19th

Boston Cannons (1-4) vs Chesapeake Bayhawks (2-2)

When you look at this game the first thought that comes to mind is how the Bayhawks offense will dominate Boston like in past games. That is true as that has been the case in the past. Boston has just recently snapped their losing streak, but followed it up with a loss. I really don't see how Chesapeake can't pull out a win here if they play like we know they can. The Cannons will have to put in some serious work on the defensive end of the field if they want to stop this Myles Jones lead Bayhawks team.

Dallas Rattlers (3-2) vs Atlanta Blaze (3-1)

This one should be a pretty decent game. I really like the way that both of these squads are playing at the moment. The Blaze are currently in the midst of a franchise high winning streak of three and they want to keep that thing going this week as well. Dallas will be looking forward to having Jordan Wolf back on the field as he returns this week after getting injured last week against the Machine. Dallas should have a more complete teams with their "QB" back on the field. This should turn out to be a very good game, as far as I am concerned.

Denver Outlaws (1-4) vs Charlotte Hounds (4-0)

Can the Hounds go into Mile High and stay undefeated? That is one of the bigger questions going into this game. Also, will the Outlaws get yet another loss? Five losses are as many as Denver had all last season and they don't want to start this season like this. This game really comes down to two teams with different paths and needs right now. Charlotte needs to ride that offense and keep winning as Denver needs to figure out what they are doing on both ends of the field.

Florida Launch (2-2) vs New York Lizards (1-4)

The Lizards are wanting to come into Boca Raton this weekend and turn things around. The Lizards have not been playing the best lacrosse as of late as they are currently riding a three game losing streak. The Launch have been looking decent but still not the best that they can be. Both of these squads have much to prove this season after a lack luster start for both, especially New York. This game can be one to turn a season around early for both squads.
