Gameday! Let The Madness Begin

The NCAA tournament begins today as Canisius and Robert Morris square off in the play-in game. This should actually be a very good game as both of these teams have impressed many throughout the season.

DI NCAA Tournament Play-in Game

Canisius vs Robert Morris

Canisius was the #4 seed in the MAAC tournament as they beat the #1 seed Quinnipiac and then the #2 seed Detroit Mercy to win the MAAC championship and lock up a bid to the NCAA tournament. Robert Morris was the #3 seed in the NEC tournament and they had to defeat the #2 seed Bryant and then #1 seed Saint Joseph's to win the NEC and clinch their NCAA tournament bid.

This games should be a very good one to kick off the tournament. In fact these teams played each other in early April and it was a two point win for Robert Morris. Both of these squads are very well rounded teams and that should make for a close game. Robert Morris may have a little more talent all the way around, but I would certainly not say they are that much better than Canisius. Their offense and defense are very good and if they can control the pace of this game then they will win. Robert Morris may want to get out and run a little more, and if that happens I can see them taking this game. This game really is a toss up.

I know not all of you all have watched either Canisius or Robert Morris this season. Some of you all may be asking what a Canisius or a Robert Morris is. So, here are a few payers that you should look out for from each team.

Canisius has the best player in the country that you have never heard of in Connor Kearnan. The attackman, Kearnan, has 80 points on the season with 31 goals and 49 assist. The Senior from Ontario has been the face of this Canisius program as he has lead them all season long. The Griffs also have other guys you should be watching too. Steven Coss and Mathieu Boissonneault are just a few other names to watch for. I think you all will be very impressed with what this Canisius offense can do as well as their entire team.

Robert Morris is a team that I have actually seen in person, so I know that they can do some special things. One guy in particular to look out for on the Colonels squad is Jimmy Perkins. This whole season Perkins has been the go to man up there in Moon-Township,PA. The hometown boy, Perkins, has 54 points of the season with 26 goals and 28 assist. Some other guys to watch out for along with Perkins are Matt Schmidt, Tyson Gibson, and Ryan Smith. The Colonels have a very good team and they can do a ton of things on both offense and defense.
