Gameday! Conference Championship Saturday

We have some great games on tab for today. We have conference championship games all day along. This is when we really start to see who will get the AQ bids to the NCAA Tournament. We are diffidently in for a very exciting day.

America East Championship

#1 Albany vs #3 Vermont

This will be a very exciting game. The last time these two teams played Albany stuffed Vermont, but both of these teams have changed since then. Most people do expect Albany to be able to pile on the points still. I think we can see that or see a closer game as Vermont still has a great defense, plus a few offensive guys that can play very well.

Big East Championship

#1 Denver vs #2 Georgetown

The Pioneers and Hoyas will go head to head to decide who will be the Big East champions in 2018. Denver has survived the Marquette upset this year and now they just need to beat the Hoyas. Georgetown has much to prove as this is their first trip to the Big East championship since 2015. Denver will need Trevor Baptiste to preform at his absolute best if they want to win this one easy. That Georgetown offense, even with injuries, is really good.

Big Ten Championship

#1 Maryland vs #2 Johns Hopkins

This is guaranteed to be a great game. This is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, rivalries in college lacrosse. With all the marbles in the Big Ten on the line this game will be 100 times better. The regular season match up was just played last week and Maryland got the edge in triple overtime. These two teams want to beat each other bad and it will be a fight until the end. This could be the best game of the day.

CAA Championship

#1 UMass vs #2 Towson

The Minutemen want to assert their dominance and go undefeated in the CAA regular season and tournament. They really do have the talent to do that. Towson has just started to come around and show signs of life this season. They will be needing to ride on that high note here today if they want any luck of knocking off the Minutemen of UMass.

MAAC Championship

#2 Detroit Mercy vs #4 Canisius

Canisius upset top seeded Quinnipiac in an overtime thriller to get here and now they have to prove they can win one more time and they are the MAAC champions. Detroit Mercy has been great in conference all year and they want to show what they can do on a big stage like this. This game should be a great one as both teams showcase a good balanced offense and defense.

NEC Championship

#1 Saint Joseph's vs #3 Robert Morris

This should be a great game here. Saint Joseph's has been riding high all year and they want things to stay that way. Robert Morris has been riding a dream season all year. The question here is who has the better team? I have watched both teams and I can say with certainty that both squads are very equal. Saint Joseph's will want to control the pace of the game and ride out the win like they have all year. If Robert Morris can do that and then get out and run they should be able to pull out the win. This should be a great game.

SoCon Championship

#1 Richmond vs #3 Jacksonville

Richmond has been the conference favorite all year and they for sure have their heads high coming into this game. Jacksonville had to fight back in their semifinal game against High Point just to get here. While both of these teams are very good Richmond may be of a sightly higher caliber. The fact of the matter is that in the SoCon things can go either way all the time. This game will be about runs and who can control the other on both ends of the field.
