MLL Preview: Boston Cannons

BU Athletics

The Boston Cannons had a a very troublesome 2017 season. They finished last in the league and they also made some trades that didn't really benefit them at all, the players didn't want to play in Boston so they either retired or never came. Thus the Cannons have been rebuilding all off season and they have really made some moves that I think will help them for the better.

One of the bigger things that happened to the Cannons this off season was the departure of Josh Hawkins. Hawkins has been one of their key players but he entered player movement and will be in Denver this season. That was a huge loss for the Cannons, but they had some good things this off season as well. Starting with the supplemental draft, the Cannons got goalie Benny Pugh with the first pick. The Cannons also drafted a whole slew of attackman and midfielders like Jack Forester who they got in the 10th round. One of the best things that happened for the Cannons this off-season was the re-signing of Max Seibald. Seibald is one of the best players in the game and I know the Cannons are happy to have him for at least one more year. Also, the Cannons acquired James Pannell from the Blaze which is another huge piece to their offense. The Cannons also just got help at the faceoff dot as they recently picked up Geoff Snider from the player pool a few weeks ago.

The Boston Cannons will be looking to have a much better season than they did last year. With this attack unit full of guys like Seibald, Pannell, Dearth, and Emala I can see a lot of success. Also, when you add in midfielders like Sergio Perkovic, Kyle Denhoff, Luke Goldstock and others that is a pretty good line up. Brodie Merrill will be leading that defense, but they will have to wait for him as he plays in the NLL too. Tim Mueller is another guy on defense that should be pretty good for them this year. Also, the Cannons will have to deal with the FIL World Championships too. Seibald will be playing for Israel and they also have guys that will be playing with USA and Canada, if Canada goes can reach an agreement with the CLA.
