Gameday! Can UVA Snap The Streak? , Community Game in Cleveland

Crainscleveland.com

It's Gameday and we have a ton of lacrosse for you all on this Saturday. One of the greatest things about today is that there are a bunch of TV games. So, sit on your couch and watch games on ESPNU, Fox Sports Network, and CBS Sports from noon until about 7:00 PM. It's going to be a great day of games.

Headline Games

  • John's Hopkins vs Ohio State
This game will be very important for Ohio State. They have not been looking good as of late and they need this win to get any kind of boost in the Big Ten. Hopkins can boost themselves in the Big Ten with a win here.

  • Cornell vs Harvard
This will be a big game in the Ivy. Harvard is in the middle mix of the Ivy League and Cornell is at the top with Yale. This will be important game for Harvard to win if they want to get into the Ivy tournament. Cornell will need to lean Jeff Teat and that offense to put Harvard away and stay in one of those top two spots in the Ivy.

  • Lehigh vs Loyola
These two teams are in a tough Patriot League. Whoever wins this game will get a boost in the Patriot League. This is a very important game in the Patriot League and the NCAA tournament. Lehigh and Loyola are in that top tier of the Patriot League and both teams need a win today.

  • North Carolina vs Virginia
This game is essentially a play in game for the NCAA tournament. Both teams have zero wins in the ACC. Virginia has not won a game in the ACC in a long time. If they win this game they will stop the streak at 1,498 days. Really, whoever wins this game should make the NCAA tournament.

  • Penn vs Brown
This is a very important game in the Ivy League. Both of these teams are on the verge of in or out of the Ivy Tournament. Whoever wins this game could possibly solidify themselves as in the Ivy.

  • Cleveland State vs Hampton
This game is between two second year programs. The cool thing about this game has nothing to do with the actual game. Cleveland State will host the first ever Community game. This will be a chance for kids to go to what is essentially a clinic before the game and then get free entrance to the game. They will also receive a free lunch and t-shirt. After the game there will be a post-game autograph session with both teams. This is a great thing that Coach Sheridan is doing up there in Cleveland and I would love to see more teams do this. I really do love the idea of a Community day
for any college lacrosse program.
