SoCon Report: Week 7

Another crazy week of college lacrosse action in the SoCon. Every team has now started SoCon play, so things should get real interesting real fast.

Air Force (3-5) (1-0)

The Falcons opened SoCon play with a win over VMI. Air Force showed just how well they can play as they dominated the Keydets for the better part of the game. The Falcons won by a score of 11-6. Next up for the Falcons will be a game against a young Mercer team on Saturday.

Bellarmine (2-5) (0-1)

The Bellarmine Knights kicked off SoCon play on the road at High Point. The Knights looked pretty good for most of the game until the 4th quarter. That is when they started to slag. The Knights lost 7-15. Up next for the Knights is a road trip to Jacksonville on Saturday.

Furman (1-6) (1-0)

The Paladins got their firs win of the year to open up conference play. Furman was able to beat Richmond 10-9. The Paladins looked very good and really surprised many by this win. The Paladins will face VMI on the road on Saturday.

High Point (1-6) (1-0)

The High Point Panthers got their first win of the season at home against Bellarmine on Saturday to open conference play. The Panthers looked really good especially in the second half. The Panthers offense was working very well. They got the win 15-7. Next up for the Panthers is a home game against Richmond on Saturday.

Jacksonville (3-4) (1-0)

The Dolphins had to comeback to get a win against Mercer on Saturday. the Dolphins looked a little slow in the first half, as Mercer lead for quite some time. In the second half the Dolphins fully unleashed and got the win 16-8. On Saturday the Dolphins will take on Bellarmine at home.

Mercer (2-6) (0-1)

The Mercer Bears looked really good against Jacksonville on Saturday, but couldn't get the job done. The Bears had one heck of a first half, but couldn't hold off the Dolphins for too long. This young Mercer team is looking great and will surely get some SoCon wins this season. They will travel to Air Force next week for what should be a great game.

Richmond (4-4) (1-1)

The Spiders started off the week strong as they upset a very good North Carolina team on the road. That success however, did not translate into the weekend. The Spiders took their first conference loss to Furman by a score of 9-10. Next up for the Spiders is a trip to High Point on Saturday.

VMI (1-5) (0-2)

The Keydets played took a loss on the road at Air Force on Saturday. VMI is obviously not on the same level as Air Force. This game was a tough one for the Keydets, but they were able to grow and get better because of it. The Keydets will welcome in Furman on Saturday for their next contest.
