NLL Weekend Preview: Week 15

Colleen De Neve / Calgary Herald

After a very exciting and crazy week 14 we are moving on to week 15.
Before we get into week 15 I just want to mention just how crazy last week was. Last week, there were only three games but every game was a one goal game. That is insane! That just speaks to the quality of lacrosse that is being played in the NLL. Now, in week 15 we have five games and they should all be good ones. One game that everyone should be watching is Buffalo vs Saskatchewan. Buffalo is one of only two teams that have been able to defeat Saskatchewan. Can Buffalo do it again? The Twitter game of the week this week is Calgary vs Rochester on Saturday night. That should be a good one as both teams are pretty much on the same level. No matter what, this will be another great weekend of action in the NLL.

Friday, March 16th

Buffalo Bandits (6-5) vs Saskatchewan Rush (10-2)

The last time these two teams met the Bandits were able to take down the mighty Rush team. I know that both teams will be thinking of that as they come into this game. Both teams have great talent and can obviously get wins. I really think Saskatchewan has an edge here just because they are a more complete team, but Buffalo has seemed to figure them out once. This game could be a battle until the end and be the best game of the weekend.

Toronto Rock (5-6) vs New England Blackwolves (6-4)

These two divisional foes will have a battle on Friday night. New England is currently sitting at the top of the Eastern Division standings, while Toronto has dropped to second to last. The Rock really need this win if they want to get back into the playoff conversation in any way. New England is playing well and juts needs a win to stay at the top of the east.

Saturday, March 17th

Calgary Roughnecks (6-6) vs Rochester Knighthawks (4-7) - Twitter Game of The Week

The Twitter Game of The Week includes an East vs West showdown at the Saddledome in Calgary. This should be a good match up as both teams currently sit at similar positions in their respective divisions. These teams are both third in their division and they are looking to stay in the playoff picture. This will be a great game, and a good one to watch on Twitter for FREE!

Vancouver Stealth (1-11) vs Colorado Mammoth (8-3)

This Western Division match up will be a competitive one. Colorado has already clinched a playoff birth so they are fine in that realm. Vancouver is sitting at the bottom of the west and the league. Vancouver has come so close to winning but just can't pull out the W. I think that this game should be another competitive one, as that is how the Stealth have been playing. Both these teams have great players and are capable of getting a win. I really think Colorado has the upper hand, but this is the NLL and anything can happen.

Sunday, March 18th

Georgia Swarm (5-7) vs Buffalo Bandits (6-5)

This is a game against two Eastern Division foes. Georgia has really struggled this year after winning the Champions Cup in 2017. This will be a good game for the Swarm to step up and maybe get a little closer to the playoff situation. Buffalo will be playing their second game in one weekend which can be tough. I think this will be a great game to watch as their is a ton of firepower on both squads. Don't forget the Thompson Brothers are on Georgia. That can always be a show with them.
