Tanner's Top 25

From today until the Day after Memorial Day we will have a post where Tanner gives his top 25 for that week. This is the very first edition and we can't wait to see how things change as the season moves forward. Even though no real polls come out until next week we are still gonna throw out ours.

25. Jacksonville

The Dolphins got the job done and wrecked the midshipmen on Sunday afternoon. Jacksonville has never looked better and I am confident that they will be good throughout the course of the season. JU took down Navy 12-7 and that is very impressive. They play Duke this Saturday but I'm not sure if they can do that to the Blue Devils as well. We will just have to wait and see what John Galloway and his JU Dolphins have in store this week in Durham

24. Providence

Losing to inter-state rival Boston U. in OT wasn't the way the Friars were looking to start the season but they did look good. Providence was up by 3 goals before BU rallied back and even after that I though Providence looked like a team that could compete with anyone. Especially in the Big East.

23. Harvard

The Ivy League is going to be an offensive juggernaut and the Crimson will surly benefit from that factor.

22. Marquette

The Golden eagles have lost some guys but with the addition of a new coach that should turn up recruiting and emotions in the locker room I feel Marquette will be better than most expect. They apparently scrimmaged Hopkins pretty well and that sounds promising. The new they added was Ryan Brown, former Hopkins stud and arguably one of the best shooters in history.

21. Brown

The Bears are heading into their second year under Mike Daly and they lost 2016 Tewarraton winner Dylan Malloy. The Tonka Truck is gone so I feel very hesitant about saying how good this team will be. They have good guys but I just wonder how good they can actually be.

20. Bryant

The Bulldogs got 2018 started off on a very good note. They beat up Manhattan on Saturday as they won by a score 15-7. The future looks promising promising for the Bulldogs in 2018.

19. Boston

The Terriers looked really good in their overtime win against Providence on Saturday. All anyone has been talking about is how this is the 5th year of the program so they lost a lot of seniors. I think we are all in for a show here with BU.

18. Towson

The Tigers open the season on ESPNU at Johns Hopkins on Saturday night and that should be a great game. Towson has a good group of Freshman and I think that with all the expierenced guys will gel really well.

17. Army

Army is in for a great season and I can just feel it. They open the season against UMass at home on Saturday.

16. Virginia

Entering the second year under Lars Tiffany the Wahoos and that stellar offense should be in for a terrific year.

15.  Penn State

That loss at home in overtime against Villanova did not taste good but they were missing a key piece. Grant Ament will be out for a few weeks but I am sure that when he comes back they will return to dominance.

14. North Carolina

The Tar Heels were able to hold off Lafayette at home 17-10. Still in my mind UNC should have killed the Leopards. They need to fix some things but hey so does everyone in February.

13. Villanova

The Wildcats got a win over Penn State in overtime on Saturday. Sources say Nova looked really good. I am hoping for more greatness from them as the season progresses.

12. Penn

The Quakers are in for a great season and I feel they could challenge many this season.

11.  Rutgers

The Scarlet Knights survived Robert Morris on Saturday. They need to improve on a few things and I think they will be back to the Rutgers that we loved last season.

10. Johns Hopkins

The Blue Jays open their season at home versus Towson on ESPNU and that should be a great one.

9. Ohio State

The Buckeyes played Cleveland State on Saturday and took care of business. We will see how fare the rest of the year.

8. Syracuse

We will get to see how the Orange are this season when they play Binghamton on Saturday.

7.  Loyola

Pat Spencer baby! Loyola will have a great year I believe. They open the season on the road against Virginia on Saturday

6. Yale

Ben Reeves is a great player and should lead them to the promise land this year if all goes right.

5.  Denver

The Pioneers are in for a great season with Trevor Baptiest at the face off dot I feel they can dominate possessions.

4. Maryland

The Attacking Champions, as Coach Tillman likes to say. They lost a lot but they just reload. They open the season at home against Navy on Saturday and that should be a must see for all Lacrosse fans.

3. Notre Dame

The Fighting Irish are a loaded team and should be one of the most complete teams.

2. Albany

The Great Danes, The Scoobies, whatever you call them. They will be the most fun team to watch this season with Connor Fields and now Tehoka Nanticoke.

1. Duke

The Blue Devils handed Air Force a L over the weekend. Justin Guterding is a monster and will be carrying this team all season long. I can't wait for their matchup with Denver on ESPNU in a few weeks.
