SoCon Report: Week 4

Week four was another wild week in the SoCon and we have it all here for you!
This week will be shorter as I was not able to watch every game as usual. I will still recap each game as much as possible and let you know what is next for each team.

Air Force (1-3)

The Falcons had a game on Friday night against Cleveland State and boy was this a shock. The Cleveland State Vikings come out there and defeat the Falcons. This was a big shock to the entire college lacrosse world. Many though that Air Force had most of their woes behind them but apparently not. The Vikings beat the Falcons 8-7 in a very close game. This game was not streamed because it was indoors. This was a very big surprise to me. The Falcons will look to rebound as they have a home game next Saturday March 3rd against Boston U.

Bellarmine (1-3)

The Bellarmine Knights had very tough loss on Saturday. The Knights had a neutral site game against Manhattan and took a 10-9 loss. This game appeared to be very close and the Knights just got some bad takes down the stretch. The Knights will have two games next week as it's time for the Midwest Classic that will be held in Detroit. The Knights will play Detroit Mercy and Marquette and those will be tough games.

Furman (0-4)

The Paladins just can not catch a break this season. Furman played Canisius and they took another loss. To make things tough this loss came in Overtime by a score of 14-13. Furman has played well every week but they can't just get a win. They have now lost twice in OT and their other losses have been close games. The Paladins are desperate for a win but their next game won't be any easier. Furman will play Denver at home next Saturday.

High Point (0-5)

High Point took two losses this week. Tuesday night they played a very close one with Virginia that ended in an 18-12 loss for the Panthers. On Saturday the Panthers took on St. John's and took anther loss and this time by a score of 16-11. I was shocked by that result. HPU is really searching for a win and they will look to get one on the road against a tough Robert Morris team.

Jacksonville (2-3)

The Dolphins went up against Ohio State in the Moe's Classic on Sunday. The Dolphins played a very good game. This game really help Jacksonville prove how good they can be. They lost in Overtime but I was very very impressed at how well they were able to stay with Ohio State and almost beat them. The Dolphins next contest will be against a very strong Vermont team on Saturday March 3rd.

Mercer (1-3)

The Bears had a bye week and will face a very tough North Carolina team on Wednesday, February 28th.

Richmond (2-2)

The Spiders had two games this week. They played Mount St. Mary's on Tuesday and avoided an upset getting a 13-10 win. On Saturday they played really well. They took a loss to Notre Dame but they didn't go down without a fight. Richmond played sluggish in the 1st half and came out firing for the 2nd half. Even with their comeback they couldn't top the talented Notre Dame team. Richmond ended up losing 11-7.

VMI (1-1)

The Keydets were able to get a win against NJIT on Saturday. NJIT had been playing pretty good but VMI was able to top them and get an 11-9 win. That marks VMI's first win of the season, The Keydets next contest will come on the road against Mount St. Mary's on Saturday. That should be a tougher game for the Keydets.
