September 1st

Tomorrow is the big day for College Lacrosse coaches and recruits. Due to the new NCAA recruiting legislation coaches can no longer contact a player until Sept. 1st of his junior year. So, since they just passed this legislation this year there are some 2019 commits, actually a huge amount. Tomorrow will be the first time that coaches have talked to them in a while. At midnight there will probably be a few calls going out to certain players that have already committed to a program and maybe some calls to try and flip those commits. I think that this was a great move for the greater good of lacrosse because we really don't need 8th graders committing to college programs. I believe last year we had the youngest player ever commit to Penn State. He had yet to even play his 8th-grade season, with his HS. That is just nuts! So I hope that this first year of this new legislation helps bring some better things into the already messy world of recruiting. Now on that note, I leave you with some links to stories about this September 1st.
